Zakażenia pałeczkami Salmonella u drobiu na Dolnym Śląsku

This work deals with the frequence of isolating Salmonella from poultry and with chemotherapeutic susceptibility patterns of the isolated strains. 2808 poultry flocks were examined between 1996-1998. Among them were 1024 flocks of chickens under three days of age (hatchlings), 1070 flocks of broilers and 714 flocks of laying hens. In addition 419 examinations of hatchling eggs were conducted as well as cloacal swabs from 115 flocks of broilers. Salmonella was most freguently isolated from hatchlings - 13.7% of infected flocks. The degree of rate of infection in broilers was lower (12.2%) and it was considerably lower in reproductive flocks of laying hens (8.8%). The percentage of Salmonella isolated from hatchling eggs was 6.9%, and it reached its lowest level in cloacal swabs examinations (2.8%). The Salmonella isolated from the poultry belonged to BO, CO and DO serogroups, while the most frequently isolated was Salmonella enteritidis (from 76.2% to 100.0%). The second most often isolated group was Salmonella - serogroup CO, and it was only isolated from hatchlings (8.6%) and broilers (7.6%). The incidence of Salmonella typhimurium infections in poultry over the three year period reached a level of 5.5%. Salmonella isolated from poultry were sensitive to norfloxacin (92.3%) and enrofloxacin (89.3%), and then to amoxicilin (83.3%) and flumequine (82.8%). At the same time there was a high percentage of strains resistant to sulphonamides (53.8%), streptomycin (42.9%), colistin (39.9%) oxytetracycline (28.7%) and neomycin (23.6%).
